The Tree That Smiled

There once was a tree, it was a big tree, on a hill. The leaves were green except in an area that revealed two black lines and a black curved line to look like a smile. This tree was called the tree that smiled to teenagers who came to make out and have sex on the hill. It was alone on this hill, around the bottom of the hill were loads of trees.

The tree had an elf, yes an elf, living in it. He was the reason the tree was so happy. If the elf was happy, the tree was happy. The elf was an old one, it was resting in the tree for about three hundred years. His family had lived in these woods for thousands of years.

A contractor came to size up the trees for a new housing development, and thought to keep the hill as it was except to add a jungle gym so kids could play. He had it all planned, cut down the woods and build the houses, and add the park. Not knowing about the elf, and how he'd react to this modernization of the woods that had been here for a long time.

Three odd some month later, the building had started. Loud noise had awoken the elf from ten month slumber. He was grouchy, very unpleased. The small old elf climbed from his hole and onto a branch. The elf's wrinkled green skin and beady black eyes were practically invisible in the tree. He had a brown beard, and was balding. The elf let out a low growl as it saw it's families' homes from over the century vanishing. He crawled back into his tree. Mad.

The tree's green leaves started to turn as red as fire, the curved black line started to curve downward. The elf sat in his hole, plotting an evil plan.

On the last month of construction, the plan went underway. The tree started to move. It pulled it's roots out to make legs and feet. The tree started to go to the construction sites, grabbing people and throwing them. It did this for several hours.

The tree went back to the hill, and put it's roots back into the ground. The elf crawled out, chanting something as it went along the houses. The houses turned into trees, and more trees started to grow. He went back to his tree, and slept.

The tree's leaves and smile turned back to normal. It stayed that way forever.

Forever, Mister Owl
